Toxicity of Intensive First-Line Treatment for Adult Burkitt Lymphoma: A Retrospective Observational Study
Condition(s) studied
Study summary
Burkitt lymphoma is a rare, highly aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma in adults. Although intensive multi-agent chemotherapy can achieve high complete remission rates, it is associated with substantial toxicity, morbidity, and sometimes treatment-related mortality. This retrospective, single-center observational study aims to characterize the short- and long-term complications of intensive first-line treatment in adults with Burkitt lymphoma managed at Strasbourg University Hospitals.
The study will evaluate treatment-related toxicities, overall survival at five years, and progression-free survival at 24 months. Secondary objectives include assessing treatment delays, chemotherapy dose reductions, and their associations with toxicity, disease location at diagnosis, and survival.
All eligible adult patients diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma or managed for this condition at Strasbourg University Hospitals and the ICANS between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2025, will be considered. The study will use retrospective medical record data, with no a priori sample size calculation because of the rarity of the disease and the single-center design.
