For 65 US drugs, the last patent or exclusivity listed in the FDA Orange Book ends within the next 24 months. 131 US biologics are still under reference-product or orphan exclusivity, and 203 EU orphan medicines hold orphan market exclusivity, 42 of which end within 24 months. These are the protections the regulators list. Patent litigation, settlements and other patents not listed with the FDA often change when a generic or biosimilar actually reaches the market, so these dates are not launch dates.
