Climate Change Training for Primary Health Care Workers

scenario-based climate change awareness training.: The experimental group will receive a one-day training program consisting of three sessions, prepared by the researchers. The training will be given by the researchers in the conference hall of the district health directorate. Climate change awareness will be measured in both the experimental and control groups before, after, and one month after the training. The control group will also receive training after the intervention.

Study summary

Improving climate change awareness among primary care nurses is of great importance for the future of the health sector. Increasing this awareness enables primary care workers to combat environmental health problems more effectively and to adopt a more conscious approach to protecting public health. Climate change is a global public health problem that negatively affects fundamental determinants of health such as clean air, clean drinking water, food, and safe shelter. Nurses, in particular, must understand these environmental risks and develop strategies to ensure the sustainability of health services. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of climate change awareness training given to primary care nurses on their climate change awareness levels.

Primary outcome measure(s)

• Prior to the intervention, the Climate Change Awareness Scale will be administered to both the experimental and control groups. — pre -intervention
  The Climate Change Awareness Scale will be administered prior to the intervention. The scale is a five-point Likert type scale consisting of 52 items and five sub-dimensions: (1) climate change awareness, (2) perception of the problem, (3) knowledge of the causes, (4) level of anxiety, and (5) expectations regarding behaviors and policies. Scores on the scale range from 52 to 260, with higher scores indicating greater awareness of climate change.
