Effects of Different Exercise Types on Irisin, Leptin, and Ghrelin Levels in Sedentary Women
Condition(s) studied
Investigational drug(s) / intervention(s)
Aerobic Exercise: Participants will complete an aerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to aerobic exercise.
Anaerobic Exercise: Participants will complete an anaerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to anaerobic exercise.
High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): Participants will complete a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to HIIT.
Study summary
This interventional study aims to investigate the acute effects of three different exercise modalities-aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)-on irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels in sedentary women. A total of 20 sedentary women will participate in the study. Hormonal responses will be evaluated in relation to the exercise sessions to determine exercise-induced changes in irisin, leptin, and ghrelin and to compare the responses associated with the three exercise modalities.
Eligibility
Primary outcome measure(s)
- Change in Irisin Level — Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session
Irisin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating irisin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) - Change in Leptin Level — Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session
Leptin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating leptin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). - Change in Ghrelin Level — Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session
Ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating ghrelin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
