NICE has published 1,189 technology appraisals since 2000, and 1,062 of them are still current. Of the current appraisals where NICE reached a decision, 90% recommend the medicine or treatment for at least some patients, including through the Cancer Drugs Fund. The most recent is TA1189, published 26 Aug 2026. NICE's decisions apply to the NHS in England; in Ireland the HSE decides on reimbursement, advised by the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics.

What NICE decided

Appraisals by recommendation type
  • Recommended: the NHS in England should fund it for the use it is licensed for.
  • Optimised: recommended, but for a narrower group of patients than the licence covers.
  • Cancer Drugs Fund / Innovative Medicines Fund: funded for a limited period while more evidence is collected.
  • Only in research: to be used only as part of a study.
  • Not recommended: NICE decided the NHS should not fund it for this use.
  • Terminated: the company did not send evidence, so NICE could not make a recommendation.

An appraisal can contain several recommendations, for different groups of patients, so it can appear under more than one type. These explanations are ours; NICE's own definitions are on nice.org.uk.

Titles link to the guidance on nice.org.uk, where the full recommendations are. A medicine is linked to its page here only when the name NICE appraised is exactly the same molecule as ours; medicines given alongside it (“with chemotherapy”) are not counted as appraised. Appraisals of devices and procedures are listed but have no medicine page.

How this page is built

NICE has allowed us to show the appraisal number, title, recommendation category and dates of each technology appraisal, with a link to the guidance. No guidance text is reproduced.

A nightly job reads NICE's recommendations data, reads each new appraisal page once and re-checks every page every 60 days for replaced or withdrawn guidance. It keeps the previous version if a refresh fails. No AI drafting. See our methodology. The NICE data on this page was last retrieved on 11 Oct 2026. How every register is built: methodology · fixes we have made: corrections log.

Please verify before you rely on this. This page is general information for life-science and pharmaceutical professionals. It is not medical advice, and it has not been reviewed by a clinician — our editorial team holds life-science qualifications, not clinical ones. It is not exhaustive and may not reflect the most recent label change. Always check the official prescribing information (US Prescribing Information or EU SmPC) and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before acting on anything here. Drugs in the same class are not automatically interchangeable, and approvals, brand names and indications differ between the US, the EU/Ireland (EMA/HPRA) and other regions. Spotted an error?
