Smartphone Addiction and Upper Extremity Sensorimotor Performance
Condition(s) studied
Study summary
The use of digital devices among young people is increasing day by day. This usage habit can lead to postural disorders. Prolonged maintenance of a static posture can negatively affect sensorimotor functions-such as sensory input, proprioception, hand-eye coordination, and upper extremity performance. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between smartphone addiction and shoulder proprioception, hand-eye coordination, and upper extremity performance in young people with smartphone addiction. Smartphone addiction will be assessed using the "Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form," shoulder proprioception with a universal goniometer, hand-eye coordination with the alternate wall-toss test, and upper extremity performance with the Closed Kinetic Chain Upper Extremity Stability test; the relationships between these parameters and smartphone addiction will then be analyzed. The study results will identify the factors that may be affected by smartphone addiction.
Eligibility
Primary outcome measure(s)
- Shoulder proprioception — Baseline
Shoulder joint proprioception will be assessed with a universal goniometer in flexion and abduction. - Hand-Eye Coordination — Baseline
Individuals' hand-eye coordination will be evaluated by using the Alternate Wall Toss Test and recording the total number of times the ball is thrown and held against the wall without dropping it for 30 seconds. - Upper Extremity Performance — Baseline
The Closed Kinetic Chain Upper Extremity Stability test will be used.
