Microglia are specialized immune cells located in the CNS and play essential roles in maintaining brain homeostasis, regulating inflammatory responses, clearing cellular debris, and responding to neurological injury. Increasing evidence indicates that abnormal microglial activation and impaired phagocytic function are closely associated with neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and other CNS-related conditions.
