Dublin-headquartered space technology innovator Ubotica Technologies has secured $11 million in a new funding round to scale the commercial rollout of its satellite-based real-time surveillance platform.
The investment round was co-led by Act Venture Capital and Greencode Ventures, with follow-on support from existing early-stage backer Atlantic Bridge. The capital injection arrives at a time of heightened geopolitical demand for satellite intelligence, particularly in maritime security and infrastructure protection.
Pioneering Orbital AI
Traditionally, Earth observation satellites gather raw visual or radar data and transmit it back to ground stations for processing—a workflow plagued by latency, high data transmission costs, and bandwidth limitations. Ubotica has bypassed this bottleneck by developing Orbital AI technology, which allows machine learning inference to run directly on the satellite itself.
Ubotica is leveraging this capability to launch its Live Maritime Intelligence platform. The system processes satellite imagery onboard in real-time, allowing governments, defense agencies, and commercial shipping fleets to immediately identify maritime threats, illicit ship-to-ship transfers, and environmental hazards across vast ocean expanses.
Commercial Rollout and Mission Record
To date, Ubotica has successfully deployed over 30 Earth observation AI models across multiple international space missions, maintaining a 100% mission success rate. The new funding will support the growth of its commercial teams in the US and Europe, enabling rapid scaling of its maritime security subscription services as global demands for critical subsea and coastal infrastructure protection peak.
