Indian Students in Ireland

Ireland is fast becoming a destination of choice for Indian students in science, technology and pharma.

A Growing Community

Indian students form one of the largest international student communities in Irish higher education. Every major university has an active Indian student society — celebrating Diwali and Holi, and giving you a support network from day one.

Cost & Scholarships

Non-EU tuition typically ranges from €12,000 to €25,000 per year depending on the course and institution. The Irish Government and individual universities offer scholarships open to Indian students, including the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships.

Pre-Departure Checklist

Make sure you have everything ready before you fly.

1

Offer letter & fee receipt

Carry your unconditional offer letter and proof of tuition payment — immigration officers at the airport will ask for these.

2

Proof of finances

An up-to-date bank statement showing the required living-expense funds (€10,000 for a one-year course under current ISD rules) held for at least 28 days.

3

Medical insurance

Private medical insurance is mandatory for non-EEA students. Most universities offer group packages you can buy at enrolment.

4

Accommodation

Book student accommodation or short-term housing well in advance — Dublin, Cork and Galway are highly competitive markets.

5

Important documents

Passport, visa, original transcripts, English-test scorecard and passport photos — all in your cabin luggage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can international students work part-time in Ireland?
Yes, non-EEA students holding a Stamp 2 visa can legally work up to 20 hours per week during the academic term, and up to 40 hours per week during standard university holidays (June to September, and Dec 15 to Jan 15).
What is the Stamp 1G post-study work visa?
